New clothes for Sadie

Just two new pieces of clothing I sewed for Sadie. A new peasant top made from a cotton knit fabric that I was given, and a new skirt from a t-shirt I got at the thrift store for a dollar. Not too bad. And I think they both turned out really cute! I just made up the pattern for the skirt but I followed this tutorial for the top. I have made about 5 of these using that tutorial. I love it!

I think they look good together, but I didn't make them thinking they would go together. Just a pleasant surprise!

A better view of the skirt. Like I said, I just made up the pattern. Basically, a waistband with a gathered section at the bottom.

I love Sadie's faces these days. So silly!

I got a new sewing machine!!!

So...I haven't posted anything here for a while. Oops. That doesn't mean I haven't been sewing stuff. In fact, I got a new sewing machine. My awesome husband got it for me for my birthday. The awesome part was, it was on sale and they let us buy one that someone returned because they "didn't want it anymore" for an extra 10 percent off! Sweet. So when I got home I opened the box and there was only a sewing machine. No pedal, no power cord, no manual, no nothing! I was pretty mad because it was Saturday night and I couldn't get those things until Monday. ARG!

So I waited until monday and brought it back to the store and before I could even tell the lady what was wrong she said "let me guess, you are missing the cords and pedal and everything??" So I said yes. She said that the lady who sold it to us just forgot to give us the bag of accessories. It was in the back. So I got it and went home. That night I set up my machine after reading the instruction manual and was all ready to sew when I noticed that the part that holds the presser foot was missing. AHHHH! So annoying! So I had to pack it all up again and bring it back to the store. I told them I just wanted a new machine and they were very nice about it and traded me a new machine for the one I had gotten.

Finally, for the third time, I unpacked my sewing machine and watched the dvd that came with it and set it up and got ready to thread the needle with the cool automatic needle threader. No matter how many times I tried (and I know I was doing it right) it didn't work. LAME! I don't really care though, I don't mind threading my own needle. It's just, it was a brand new machine, so it should work right?? Oh well.

I love my new machine! It is so awesome. And hopefully I will start taking pictures of my finished products so I can share them on this blog.

Oh and another thing. I started an ETSY shop! It only has some earrings that I have made so far, but I hope to be adding more and more variety in the not too distant future!! Check it out HERE.

And I am offering FREE SHIPPING to the first 10 orders! Just use the coupon code GRANDOPENING10 on any order.

My new bag!

So I made a new bag last week. I have about 10 unfinished projects but I decided to make a bag last week so I pushed them all to the side and made one. I wish I had a tutorial to share with you all, but I really just made up the pattern as I went. I really like the way it turned out. And I made it with two shirts that my brother gave me like a year ago. So it didn't cost much either.

And here is a closeup of the ruffle. That is my favorite part!

I love it! The only thing I would do different next time is make it taller.

Matching Hoodies!

So I came across a pattern on etsy. I really liked it. And, it wasn't just a girl's pattern. It could be something for a boy or a girl. I was in love. So I made my first ever purchase on etsy. I bought this Hoodie pattern. Cute no? You should check out her whole shop because she has lots of cute stuff. And no, I am not getting paid to say that. :)

So I got right to work. I didn't want to have to buy fabric, so I used some t-shirts that I had gotten at the thrift store a while back. Actually, some of you who know my husband may recognize that green shirt. He has been wearing it for years. And it is paper thin. So I convinced him that I needed to cut it up to make something adorable for Zac. I guess it worked because he let me use it. Thanks!

Anyway, so I took those two shirts and made them into this:

I was so happy with the result and how fast it came together that the next night I made one for sister:

She was seriously so excited to have one that matched her brother's. She pointed it out to me all day long. I especially love the mismatched buttons.

Cute matching hoodies!. Love it!

T shirt fabric is just the right thickness too. I think that if it were thicker, it would be hard for them to move in them.

Posing.

It was really hard to get Zac to look anywhere but at Sadie's buttons. He tried to grab them like the whole time.

And then Sadie insisted that I take more pictures of her.

And then things started getting crazy! :) You should try this pattern. You will love it!

Shoes for Zac

I found a baby bootie pattern like 2 years ago and never got around to making any for Sadie, but I finally dug it out and made some for Zac. They are stinking cute! I love them! And they stay on his feet too!

Check them out. I don't really remember where I got my pattern or else I would link to it, but if you search on oneprettything.com, I'm sure something will come up.
